FAQs

What data is available at SecondFloor?
SecondFloor captures product class, brand name, product name, product ID, one image, and 3 selling points for every product. Furthermore, each product class has its own attributes which SecondFloor captures. For example, shoe companies provide SecondFloor with Silhouette, Genre, Toe Type, Fastener, Base Type, Heel Height, Colors, Colorway Name, Materials, Ornamentation, Sizes, Gender, and Features. Capturing data at this granular level enables retailers to map our values to their own custom schemas.
Are retailers able to alter, augment, or customize the data in order to create a unique user experience?
Yes. Retailers may post the data directly to their websites, they may post portions of the data (e.g. use their own photos and ignore the vendor-provided photos), or they may map our values to their own values. Once the mapping is complete, the data simply flows to retailers' content management systems, enabling them to publish products quickly and accurately with minimal human intervention.
How easy is it to connect to the SecondFloor API?
Mapping to SecondFloor is a technical process, however, because of the consistent, structured nature of the SecondFloor database, mapping can be managed quite easily once you understand our schema. Of course, we're happy to help as retailers get up and running.
How do I know that the information I am downloading is accurate?
The beauty of SecondFloor is that it's filled with artificial intelligence that understands when combinations of values are possible and impossible. This ability to "correct on capture" ensures that data is accurate when it comes into the system.
How do I know that the information I am downloading is complete?
SecondFloor's cataloging tool contains many rules: one of which prohibits vendors from publishing incomplete data to SecondFloor. This "all or nothing" approach ensures that if an item is in our database, its information is complete.
Some of my brands aren't available on SecondFloor today. What can I do?
SecondFloor is a venue, not a retailer. It's very likely that many of your brands are not on SecondFloor today. We rely upon retailers to invite their vendors to use the platform. We've made it free and easy for vendors, so if they care about their retailers and helping to improve sales, they'll be happy to add their information for you.
Can vendors connect to the API to populate their own websites with SecondFloor data?
Yes! Once a vendor has taken the time to catalog all of its products on SecondFloor, it is more than welcome to use that data to populate its own website. This service is free for vendors as a thank-you from SecondFloor for taking the time to work with us.
